Mercedes R129 SL Folding Top Handle

Fits without modification

Made for the folding soft top on the Mercedes R129 SL, replacing OEM part 129 778 00 55. The handle is reverse-engineered from a measured original, so the grip profile, base and screw positions land exactly where the factory part does. It mounts with the two original screws — undo the old handle, offer up the new one, screw it home. No drilling, no trimming, no packing.

Looks right on the car

Finished in Black, with the colour running right through the material rather than sitting on the surface. The handle you pull every time the roof goes up or down doesn't wear through to a different shade at the edges. No paint, no lacquer, nothing to peel.

Built to outlast the original

The original handle lives in direct sun every time the top is down. Over the years the plastic fades to grey, turns brittle, and cracks — usually across the grip or around the screw bosses, where the pull load concentrates.

This handle is made from ASA, specified for exactly this position: UV-stable so it holds its black in an open-top car, heat resistant so it doesn't soften or distort on a roof frame that bakes, and tough enough to take the pull of the top, day after day, without splitting at the mounts. Because it's colour-through, a scuff is a scuff in black, not a mark in a finish.
