Mercedes R129 SL A-Pillar Trim Skeleton

Fits without modification

Made for the interior A-pillar (windscreen pillar) trim on the Mercedes R129 SL, 1990–2002 — 300SL, 500SL, 600SL, SL320, SL500 and SL600 — replacing OEM part A1296920189 (left) and A1296920289 (right). The skeleton is reverse-engineered from a measured original, so the contour, the curve along the windscreen and the mounting points land exactly where the factory part does. Once covered, it goes back on the car in place of the original. No trimming, no drilling, no packing.

The bare skeleton — leather not included

This is the structural carrier that sits under the leather, supplied bare in Gray. Your trimmer covers it with the leather from your old trim or with new hide to match your interior, so the finished part looks the way the factory intended. If your leather is still good but the plastic underneath has failed, this is the part you actually need.

Built to outlast the original

The A-pillar trim sits directly behind the windscreen, the hottest trim position in the cabin. Over the years the original carrier goes brittle: the mounting points crack when the trim comes off, the edges split, and the leather starts to lift because the base under it has moved.

This skeleton is made from ASA, an engineering plastic developed for automotive trim that lives outdoors. It is UV-stable and heat resistant, so it holds its shape behind the glass instead of going brittle or warping. That keeps the leather tight and the trim sitting flush to the pillar, and it is tough enough to be fitted and removed without the mounts letting go.

One A-pillar trim skeleton in Gray for ONE side — choose Left or Right from the options above. Sides are as viewed from the driver's seat facing forward. Doing both pillars? Add both sides to your cart. Leather covering is not included. Test-fit the bare skeleton on the car before it is covered.
